3rd Ward & Brookyn Based present the 2nd Annual Pig Roast & Dance Party. Stand by as Pig Roasting Extraordinaire Tom Mylan (from Marlow and Sons, Diner and Bonita) and Chef Eric Sherman turn 200 lbs. of hog into finger-licking good & nicely priced pork tacos. We'll also have sides-a rice, beans and mexi-slaw and Brooklyn Based will top you off with some ice cream.
Featuring live music from Stumblebum Brass Band, Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers, In Cadeo and DJ Tanner all afternoon.
Plus bring your own t-shirts for $1 for pig inspired screen-printing & wear your sweetest smile for a carnival-style photobooth.

A Search for the Best Emerging Photographers!

Photography has been reinventing itself since its inception. From daguerreotypes to glass negatives, instant Polaroid film to unlimited digital shots, images are our reflections, our fantasies and our teachers. This competition is a search for the best new work from emerging photographers.
For this call we are joined by judges Peter van Agtmael (Magnum Photographer), Sean Fader (Photographer, FIT Professor & Solo Show Artist), Amani Olu (Co-founder & Executive Director, Humble Arts Foundation) and Alexandra Niki (Editor in Chief, Resource Magazine).
One photographer will be awarded $500 & a 3rd Ward bike and the top 25 photographers will receive:
- A group show in 3rd Ward's gallery
- A feature in 3rd Ward's Quarterly Publication
- 1-month Basic Membership at 3rd Ward with access to our four photo studios
- NYC wide exposure - post cards, flyers, press!

Spend the weekend with Fernanda Cohen, a NY based illustrator with clients like The New Yorker, The New York Times, Continental Airlines, The Gap and more. Don't miss out on this chance to learn from one of the best in the biz!
This two-day weekend workshop is made for both aspiring and professional illustrators. It will cover how to put a portfolio together, self-promotion, networking, illustration reps and the business of illustration. Students will work in-class, receiving feedback as they sketch and conceptualize, allowing them to understand the process involved in delivering a client's idea clearly and successfully.

Bags for the People and 3rd Ward have partnered up to bring you "Sweatshop Socials" every last Monday of each month, from 7 to 10pm. You bring the fun and the fabric; we'll provide the sewing machines, instruction, drinks ($3 home brewed beer), snacks and live music. 'Cause everybody knows plastic is passé.
